Here’s a fab boxing simulator that my school friends and I played to death! We would spend hours competing for the highest ranking, and I’m pleased to say that I was victorious many times over ;-P
Anyway – many thanks to Rio for sending in this game ending, which was sent in as a VSF (Vice) file and we FINALLY worked out how to convert it to a .PRG file for ALL C64 emulators 🙂
So without further-a-do, here’s Rio …
“… And McGuigan is out for the count!”
The Final Stats
And the final screen (“.) The End.
HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?: I played all the way through without a cheat (WHAT?!?! – Webmaster).
SO WHAT HAPPENS?: Barry was hard to beat, but I gave him a flogging in one of the rounds, only to be told that the audience was leaving at the end-of-round stat screen. Eventually I floored him…. and that was it! I was at least expecting a congratulatory message or belt presentation or SOMETHING after beating him by knockout… but nope. The game just ends, and you get the top spot. That’s it. Now all you can do from that point is have endless rematches with Barry McGuigan and rake in more money. I hardly call that an ending at all! In fact the game seems entirely score-based.
Vinny: It seems that your stats as a boxer only increase depending on how high you are on the rankings. All that training you do only lasts for one match, and your stats only increase if you win. Here I was thinking that the training actually made a difference, like in a role-playing game. 0/10 from me!
FINAL SAY: As a rating out of ten, I’m going to knock down Barry and count him out all the way to 10 until his score is zero.
