The Jetsons by Hi-Tec Software is one of their many releases featuring TV cartoon characters. The game is an action adventure where you control a member of the Jetson family on each level. The aim on each level is to collect the various required items (which are well hidden) on each level while avoiding the numerous creatures and objects that cause you harm. The overall aim is to get the family to Las Venus for a vacation. Between levels there’s a sub game where you control a spacecraft that you have to guide up the screen to the end. This has to be done within a time limit while avoiding harmful space debris. The graphics are colourful and the levels are big with different characters and objectives. The game itself though just didn’t really do much for me. It’s quite tricky too, so it can be a little frustrating. Overall it’s not a bad TV tie-in that’s worth a look but there are much better games of this genre to be found out there.

The End!
HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?: I cheated. I used a level skip cheat on a cracked version of the game.
SO WHAT HAPPENS?: After the final spacecraft sub-game the game is beaten. A message appears which reads ‘WELL DONE. YOU MADE IT IN TIME’. This is followed by a final message that reads ‘CONGRATULATIONS EVERYONE. YOU HAVE MADE IT TO LAS VENUS. ENJOY YOUR VACATION’.
COMMENTS:
Neil: Only a really poor text message awaits at the end of this one. I’m glad I cheated as it would require a lot of work to see such a terrible ending. A huge waste of time. 1/10.
Vinny: Now here’s a blast from the past – or should it be, from the future? I love the Hi-Tec Hanna – Barbera cartoon range, and The Jetsons certainly makes a great addition to what is now an extensive range. It was released on Hi-Tec’s Premier Range, which means they felt it was worth more money – which is fair enough. ZZAP!64 magazine certainly loved this one and gave is a whooping 90%!!
As for the ending… what a complete let down 😦 It could have been a superb cartoon ending sequence utilising the great sprites and scenery drawn by Paul Salmon. The coders couldn’t have run out of memory because this is a multiload game and so they could have produced a separate load for the game ending. A superb game but an absolute diabolical ending… 1/10 from me too.
Andrew Fisher: For the money, I always found The Jetsons a bit disappointing – I wanted a bit more depth, but it did look and sound nice. Definitely disappointed in the ending.
Gaz Spence: The ending hardly portrays the glitz of Las Vegas does it? More like a weekend at Skegness.
Andy Vaisey: Never liked the cartoon. Game is kind of ok. Ending is rubbish. Like Skegness. Apparently.
FINAL SAY: A big let down. I was hoping for some cartoon ending.

G.E. RATING: 1 / 10
