Task III is a vertical shoot-em-up by Databyte, and a pretty decent one too. The graphics are good and quite well animated and the control method is smooth and responsive. A nice touch in this game is the ability to flip your ship and scroll back down through the level, so you can collect or shoot whatever you missed. It’s easy to get into and complete a few levels, but it does then start to get much harder. I recommend you check this one out as it seems to be popular amongst C64 gamers. It may be a game that passed you by…

The End.
HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?: I used a load of cheats that gave me tons of power and the ability to skip levels.
SO WHAT HAPPENS?: At the end of the final level I fought a larger spaceship. Once it was blown to smithereens, the game was beaten. The ending is simply a short page of text which tells you that you are the hero of the 60th century as the evil guy is now dead and the imperium is free. The game then restarted.
COMMENTS:
Neil: Yet another simple ending. Not much to report here lads. 2/10.
Vinny: I’d never heard of this game before Neil sent in the ending, and so I fired it up for a blast or two to see what I was missing out on. I must say, I’m really impressed! The game is great, and is a mix between Warhawk (Firebird) and Uridium (Hewson), which is all wrapped up in a neat and polished package. I can’t believe this game had passed me by for so long!
As for the ending… there’s a tune and a small epilogue. That’s your lot 😦 2/10 from me too.
Andy Vaisey: I remember the ZZAP! review and, having just given the game a blast for the first time, agree with it – a polished game that’s a bit too frustrating for it’s own good. Shame that a well coded little game has such a boring ending. Oh well…
Andrew Fisher: It had some nice ideas but never really did enough to stand out – as Andy says, polished but frustrating.
FINAL SAY: Another dull ending.

G.E. RATING: 2 / 10
