Tarzan Goes Ape is a typical Codemasters platform game. You control Tarzan, who has been turned into an Ape. Your mission is to turn back into a human – but wasn’t Tarzan more Ape than man anyway? Oh well, that’s you mission and you complete it by jumping through the jungle, avoiding the beasts and collecting items that will help you change back. It’s not the greatest of games, and the graphics are pretty poor. The animation on the main character is quite shocking. It’s ok to play though, as it’s quite simple and won’t tax your brain too much…
HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?:
Neil: I used an infinite lives cheat.
Vinny: I crazy hacked the game and added 14 in-game features, one of them allowing you to jump straight to the game ending 😉
SO WHAT HAPPENS?: If you make it to the end you get to see a short ending sequence. Tarzan is shown in ape form as a bolt of lightning strikes his head. He then turns back to his human form and a message appears above him reading ‘CONGRATULATIONS. THE CURSE IS BROKEN!’ The game then ends.
Neil: A simple budget game with a decent little ending. It’s not too bad. 5/10.
Vinny: It’s spooky to read Neil’s opening comments about the game because I feel exactly the same about the game!
Anyway – it’s an okay-ish ending. Nothing too taxing but okay for a budget release. 5/10 from me too.
Andrew Fisher: Him Tarzan. Me player. Ending so-so.
Andy Vaisey: Well, it’s an ending at least. Not much of one, but at least there *is* one.
I really like the 2×2 char font in the handwriting style. Nice!
FINAL SAY: It’s not amazing, but it will do.
