Para Assault Course by Zeppelin is another army based endurance game in the style of Combat School. Your aim is to complete all the tough courses in the give time limits. The graphics and animation are pretty good, and it plays well but it’s too repetitive. Each course is almost the same and you soon get fed up of the joystick waggling. It’s not one of Zeppelin’s best, and I’d recommend you play a sports game with more variety than this if you fancy some racing action.
HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?: I cheated. I stopped the clock with some pokes.
SO WHAT HAPPENS?: Once you cross the final finish line, the cadet turns and waves to you. The words ‘WELL DONE‘ appear in white text before the game takes you to the high score table.
Neil: A truly terrible ending. I think it’s another game that the designers didn’t expect to be beaten by anyone without cheating. 1/10.
Vinny: It’s inevitable that we’re all going to make the association with Combat School by Ocean Software, of which I spent many an afternoon with my schoolmates battling it out to become the latest victor. But Combat School was a full-price game whereas Para Assault Course was only £3.99, which showed in the scores given by ZZAP!64 magazine: 91% and 67% respectively. I suppose this is acceptable for a budget title, but I’d still opt to play Combat School instead.
As for the ending… hmmm… now that’s a little flat. An animated wave and a “WELL DONE”! 1.5/10 from me.
Andy Vaisey: Slightly misplaced music. Main sprite that slides till you get up to speed. Screen glitches. Impossible water jumps. Short courses. As mentioned, I suppose these flaws are acceptable given the budget price.
However, the poor ending isn’t acceptable. Well done??!?! Pfff! And why does the solider sprite look quite tough side-on during the game, but face on at the end, he looks a bit… I dunno.. seems to me he has moobs and birthing hips or something?
Andrew Fisher: They ran out of energy and did not stay the course – a poor ending.
FINAL SAY: That’s really poor. Lucky I didn’t put more effort into beating it.
