Yet another joystick-bashing sports game by Zeppelin. It’s one of those games where you have to waggle your joystick like mad until your arms feel like they are going to fall off…
The aim of Para Academy is to pass various tests in order to make the grade, which will turn your cadet into a fully fledged paratrooper. The events include: sprinting, swimming, weightlifting and shooting, plus a few others. The graphics are very good, and the game play is quite a challenge. You need to complete all the events twice in order to win the game…
HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?: I used a cheat that stopped the clock.
SO WHAT HAPPENS?: Once the final tug-of-war battle is won, the game is beaten. A page of text appears, which is a message from the programmer David Mowbray. It’s a strange message that recommends you read some Terry Pratchett books?!? You then get to enter your name into the high score table, which shows your final military ranking.
Neil: The end is a big let down. It’s just a silly, irrelevant message from the programmer. 2/10.
Vinny: This game always reminds me of a poor man’s Combat School.
And as for the end… it’s certainly a poor man’s ending! 2/10 from me too.
Andy Vaisey: Police Academy movies rubbish?!?!?!!!
Well, yeah, but in a brainless, tacky, brilliant way!
BTW: Para Academy… rubbish ending!
Brendan Phoenix: Some dodgy spelling in that ending message – needs to be back to English Academy.
Andrew Fisher: Stand at ease. Never called up to play this one. Should be court-martial led for being so bad at concluding the mission.
Gaz Spence: I like the ending ditty but not sure if it’s used elsewhere in the game. Certainly not the worst I’ve seen from Zeppelin.
FINAL SAY: That was hard work. My arms are in bits!
G.E. RATING: 2 / 10
