Here’s a quirky little platformer if ever I played one…
I stumbled on ‘1994: Ten Years After’ whilst looking through the Gamebase 64 database to see what I could crazy hack. Lo and behold, this little game popped up, which at first appeared to be a pile of cack, but on further inspection it’s actually fun and challenging to play. The thing is, you know me: I’m a complete cheat! I spent a good two hours playing with the code and finally ending up with a full-blown crazy hack that added 20 additional features to the game. One of those features allows you to jump straight to the final level, and another key-press fires up the ending…
1994-1
Here’s level 7…
1994-2
…and now level 8.
1994-3
Make your way to the springboard, and hit the power switch…
1994-4
…which turns off the central computer.
1994-5
The End.
HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?: I cheated to high heaven! Download the crazy hack from HERE.
SO WHAT HAPPENS?: Once you have teleported from level 7 to level 8, you then have to make your way up to the central computer’s ON/OFF switch. Hit the switch and the computer starts to slow down before stopping completely. The ending screen appears, which reads: “CENTRAL COMPUTER NEWS BULLITEN[!] YOU HAVE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED ALL EIGHT LEVELS OF THIS GAME. THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT YOU WILL GET 5000 POINTS BONUS. THE BAD NEWS IS THAT UNFORTUNATELY YOU WILL BE SENT TO THE START OF LEVEL 1.
COMMENTS:
Vinny: As I said, it’s a quirky little game and so it’s obvious that it isn’t going to be a brilliant ending. Saying that – I was mildly surprised to see the central computer slowing down before the standard ending screen text appears. 1.5/10 from me.
Andrew Fisher: Never played it, will have to give it a go sometime. Average ending though, but pretty much what you would expect for the time.
Andy Vaisey: Never heard of it… but it looks more like 1983 than 1989! What a pile of cack looking load of cack!!!!
Rubbish ending too.
Brendan Phoenix: So to be honest – if presented with just text, I want more than one line, so in that instance, job done!
FINAL SAY: Quirky…

G.E. RATING: 1.5 / 10
