I do love Commodore 64 Christmas games; it really takes me back to those early days of innocent gaming when Christmas games were about delivering presents and throwing snowballs. It’s sad to see that none of the software houses release Christmas specific games into the commercial market 😦
Anyway – I’d never heard of this game until Gaz Spence kindly sent it in and I was determined to hold on to it until Christmas Day, which I seemed to have managed 🙂
The aim of the game, believe it or not, is to control Father Christmas during his present delivery on Christmas Eve and deliver all the children’s’ presents. The only problem is, there are numerous amounts of obstacles stopping your presents from hitting their targets. It’s up to you to save Christmas – again!
HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?: I think Gaz used trained version of the game 🙂 Level skip deluxe!
SO WHAT HAPPENS?: Once Father Christmas has drop the final present into the house, and ending message appears that reads: “WELL DONE SANTA. ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL YEAR. ALL THE CHILDREN ARE SO PLEASED WITH THEIR PRESENTS!”
Vinny: Oh dear. What a boring ending 😦 Okay – so it has a VERY small epilogue, but there could have been a nice picture or some animation along with an ending tune. So much more could have been done to save this Christmas game from the perils of the deep, dark game ending pit of low scorers.
At least it’s Christmas Day 2009 (it was when I posted this ending). MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ONE AND ALL. THANK YOU FOR YOUR VALUED SUPPORT THROUGHOUT 2009 :-)))
Andy Vaisey: A big shame their wasn’t a nice piccie or something. Text don’t cut it, even at Christmas. Bah humbug, etc…
Kungfufurby: The ending is ho-ho-horrible… not a good present. However, it is Christmas 😀
Gaz Spence: What I want to know, is what made the game ‘official’? I’ve got visions of Alternative reps jetting of to Lapland to seal the deal…
Andrew Fisher: I’ve never reached the second part of the game where you drop the presents… This ending is the equivalent of finding a lump of coal in your Christmas stocking.
I remember the press release in ZZAP! where they boasted about it being “official”. Just a marketing gimmick really.
FINAL SAY: Ahhhh stuff it! It’s Christmas!
