Felix is a simple little maze game by Elite where the aim is to guide Felix around five mazes, collecting tokens and returning them back to the starting point within the required time limit. The game is aimed towards the younger gamer, as the graphics are very child-like and enemies are few and far between. The mazes are pretty straight forward and not that difficult to find your way around.
HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?: Using an infinite energy cheat.
SO WHAT HAPPENS?: When you complete the five mazes, you get to play a sixth level. The aim is just to get out of the maze before the time limit runs out. This is quite simple to achieve. Once you find the exit, Felix zooms off out of the screen. The screen scrolls up and then scrolls over large writing that is made out of the bricks that form the level’s background. The words ‘NICE FLYING!’ zip past the screen before your final score and bonuses are totalled up. You then get to enter your name into the high score table before the game restarts.
Neil: Not bad! I thought I was definitely in for just a ‘Well done’ message. 4/10.
Vinny: As Neil says, it’s a nice little ending. I like the idea of using the level blocks to spell out the ending message – a bit like the Uridium ending. 4/10 from me too.
Andy Vaisey: I love this game! Just the simplicity I guess, because it’s certainly not the graphics! It also contains one of my favourite Cooksey title tunes, a jolly little ditty, even if it doesn’t fit the game really.
Not a great ending, but better than a standard ‘well done’ I suppose.
I’m off to have a game of it now!
Andrew Fisher: I played this when ZZAP put it on a covertape, complete with a strange story about Chernobyl radiation… Played it a couple of times, completed a couple of levels and that was it. It was a cheap and simple game.
The ending is probably above my expectations, although again it is quite simple – but nicely executed.
FINAL SAY: It’s a very simple game, with an adequate end.
G.E. RATING: 4 / 10
