So there’s me thinking “if the UK version of this game was good, then it’s inevitable that the US version was going to follow suit”. WRONG. The US version of Cabal isn’t anywhere near as polished as the UK version. It’s lacking in every aspect and is a total letdown for the US Commodore 64 gaming public. Why they didn’t just release the UK version in the US is beyond me. Anyway – following in the fashion of being a crap game, is a crap ending…
HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?: CHEATED! Infinite every things and a level skip 🙂
SO WHAT HAPPENS?: Once you polish off the final boss, everything disappears, and the ending message appears, which reads: “FROM THE OFFICE OF THE COMMANDER: Good work, soldier. We commend you for your bravery in halting the armed forces of the terrorists. Return to headquarters, your next mission awaits you.”
Vinny: What?! Is that it 😦 Brendan gave this a rating of 05/10, and I totally agree with him.
Frank Gasking: Really disappointing in comparison to the UK version. I had always thought the US game was just as good as the UK version in this instance, but I must have dreamt it. Ending is very poor. Maybe the US version was completed first and Ocean just decided to do things from scratch.
Brendan Phoenix: These US versions of games really do suck! This is pretty damn bad (but I think Bionic Commando is the worst US only release).
Not even a half decent ending to redeem it. Very poor.
Andrew Fisher: That is a really bad ending!
Gaz Spence: Some of the USA conversions are laughably bad, with this being right up with Bionic Commando and Ikari Warriors for lameness. The ending is miserable.
FINAL SAY: A pile of pants (and I don’t mean trousers) 😦
