Apparently, this is a coin-op conversion of a SEGA arcade game, but I’ve never heard of it. Anyway – this game involves you driving “the world’s most advanced transforming vehicle” through five frantic levels. You can use the bike to jump gaps in the road, the car to avoid being blown up easily, and a jet car to fly. The scenery graphics are a little basic (SEUCK-esque), but the main sprites are nicely drawn. I enjoyed playing this game for a short while, and was astonished to read that the ZZAP!64 magazine team thought this game was dire and gave it a measly overall score of 38%! I think the game is worth a little more, but what about the ending?
HOW WAS IT COMPLETED?: I used a trained version that allowed me to skip to level 5 and then play through the final level with infinite lives, energy etc.
SO WHAT HAPPENS?: Once you destroy the final two flagships, the ending screen appears, which reads: “CONGRATULATIONS. YOU HAVE COMPLETED MISSION 5 AND DESTROYED THE ENEMY FLAGSHIPS. YOUR BRAVERY EARNS YOU A PLACE IN HISTORY.”
Vinny: Oh come on – I expected more than this! What a rotten, ROTTEN ending! No ending tune, no ending picture, no ending ANYTHING… except a cacky message. 0.5/10 from me.
Andrew Fisher: And yet again this is an arcade conversion, so if it recreates what the coin-op did then it’s not the converter’s fault it is terrible.
Andy Vaisey: That ending SEUCKs. I mean sucks.
Brendan Phoenix: Arcade has different text and an ending pic. This is poor.
FINAL SAY: Rotten!
